I learned the first jig from Paddy Cronin at a session in Castleisland in 2011. It is listed as tune no. 188 in Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody by Francis O’Neill (1922). Pádraic got the second jig from fiddle player, Jesse Smith, who adapted a tune of this name in P.W. Joyce’s 1909 collection Old Irish Folk Music and Song (no. 190). We have decided to ignore the directive ‘Not intended for a jig’ which accompanies the title!
