about

I learned the first two jigs from Mayo accordion player and 78 rpm record aficionado, Alan Morrisroe. Alan’s grandmother, Catty Nell, from near Swinford, Co. Mayo, is the source of the first jig. Alan heard the second tune played by Martin Ruane (1895-1986), a fiddle and melodeon player from Straide, Co. Mayo. The third jig came from Joe Carey, who learned it from tin whistle player, Eddie Corcoran.
