about

Raelach Records are delighted to release 'Ré Órga' the new album by Clare pianist, Geraldine Cotter. The album features original and traditional material arranged for piano, reed organ and ensemble.

"This album is a reflection of my musical journey to date. The recording began in 2018, prior to the onset of the pandemic and continued until 2023. It has gone through a number of stages, culminating in music created during the height of the pandemic. My work is deeply rooted in Irish traditional music, but it is also informed by the harmonic languages of jazz and classical music. This recording features a miscellany of my many influences and approaches, expressed through new compositions, my interpretations of existing traditional dance tunes, arrangements of archival material and arrangements of tunes on reed organ and piano. It has been a very gratifying experience to step into a more experimental frame of mind."

Geraldine Cotter, May 2023.

"A delightful snapshot of a musician at the top of her game, the album showcases not just musical prowess, with surprising arrangements, mood setting, interpretation and most notably her ability to take a tune out of its framework, make it something else and return it as found"
Anne Marie Kennedy, Irish Music Magazine

"an excellent album that will appeal to anyone who loves traditional music...a fascinating and quite beautiful project"
Daniel Neely, The Irish Echo
